PVSD GMail for Students

Perkiomen Valley School District students in all grade levels are provided with email addresses within the district’s Gmail domain. This allows for enhanced communication between teachers and students, and opens scheduling that will help keep students informed about assignments, due dates and upcoming events, and facilitates additional opportunities for collaboration as students use the G Suite for Education, formerly known as Google Apps for Education or GAFE, in their daily class work.

In addition, the use of Gmail accounts within the school setting will allow students the opportunity to practice using a tool that they will have to know how to use effectively outside of school, and it will give them the chance to practice the digital citizenship lessons they have been learning throughout the year. As with all Google Apps, the intention is to enhance critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication for students and staff. Digital Citizenship and 21st Century Skills are concepts which help teachers, technology leaders and parents to understand what students/children/technology users should know to use technology appropriately.

Digital Citizenship and 21st Century Skills are more than just a teaching tool; using these tools can assist in preparing students/technology users for college and career.  Elementary and middle school students have the capability to email classmates, teachers, and other PV staff, while high school students are additionally permitted the capability to email outside the internal portal/domain.

The District’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) outlines our expectations for the use of online collaboration and communication. As part of the online verification process, parents are asked to acknowledge their awareness of the student handbook which includes reference to the district's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) as well as other policies and procedures.
