Members of the Perkiomen Valley Student Loan Association (PVSLA) were hard at work May 10 sorting through 85 applications for student loans received this year, and will end up awarding $94,600 to students to help finance their pursuit of higher education this year.

In addition to interest-free loans, the PVSLA also granted $2,000 in scholarships to two graduates who were recognized at the Senior Awards Ceremony held on May 23.

This $96,600 total in awards is the largest in PVSLA history. The PVSLA provides financial aid for graduates of Perkiomen Valley High School to continue their education. The interest-free loans, awarded on the basis of need, can be used at any accredited institution of higher learning and are repaid after the student has graduated or left school.

This all-volunteer organization has been a part of the district for many years and anticipates the need to grow. Donations and volunteers are welcome. To get involved, please email pvstudentloan@gmail.com.
