Volunteer Procedures

Perkiomen Valley School District is thankful for the support of its many volunteers. We have always required our volunteers to obtain necessary clearances and participate in screening procedures before they can participate. However, you should be aware that recent changes to state laws have led us to update our volunteer screening procedures so that we remain in compliance. Effective July 1, 2015, there will be three clearances required of all volunteers. Please read on for the requirements.
All individuals volunteering/chaperoning for the first time in any capacity within the Perkiomen Valley School District are required to obtain the following clearances:
For volunteers, the two state clearances are free. The FBI report costs $22.60. If you have lived continuously in Pennsylvania for at least 10 years, you may submit a Volunteer Affirmation Form in place of the FBI Federal Criminal History Record Report. This form should be submitted to your building's Volunteer Coordinator.

Please click on each link above for detailed instructions on how to apply for these clearances. Once you have obtained your clearances, you should submit original clearance reports and/or the Act 153 Volunteer Affidavit to the Volunteer Coordinator in your child’s building for copying. (The Volunteer Coordinator list is located below.) If you have a child in more than one building, you do not need to repeat this process for every school. Submit your clearances to one building and your information will be included in a district-wide database that all schools can access. YOU SHOULD RETAIN ORIGINALS FOR YOUR FILES. Do not bring clearance forms to the District Office. All three clearance reports must be renewed every five years thereafter.

If your current clearances are more than five years old, you will need to submit a new set of Pennsylvania clearances and the fingerprint report Registration ID number/Act 153 Volunteer Affidavit to your child’s building. If your current clearances are not more than five years old, you will still need to provide the fingerprint report Registration ID Number (or Volunteer Affirmation Form) to your child’s school. Please keep in mind that you will need to re-submit all of your clearances before each five-year period has expired. Examples: If you obtained your clearances in June 2014, you will have to re-submit your clearances again prior June 2019 in order to remain in compliance.

PLEASE NOTE: We will no longer require license scans through our Raptorware system for those who want to return as volunteers/chaperones.
