Tips for a Successful Online Meeting or Class Sit in a well-lit area, but not with a bright light or window behind you.If possible, use a headset microphone - if not available, the laptop or Chromebook mic is OK to use. Close tabs you don’t need for the meeting/class to improve performance during the call. Test out the setup before starting the meeting or class (you can join to see how it looks/sounds before adding anyone else). Set expectations for students. Appropriately dressed (even if not using video - just in case!) Sit somewhere with limited distractions and good lighting Eating/Drinking OK or not Keep microphone muted unless speaking Use chat to “raise their hand” to speak - have them type “HAND” or some other agreed-upon word to get the teacher’s attention Use chat appropriately
