My Classes

The mission of the Perkiomen Valley School District is to provide a rich academic and cultural learning environment that maximizes available resources to assure that all students grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally, attaining the skills necessary to become successful citizens.

Listed below are the courses I have taught in the past and the course syllabi.  Depending on the year, I have taught a variety of courses.  In the 2017-2018 school year, I will teach 3 sections of biology and 2 sections of AP Environmental Science.
AP Environmental Science
The goal of the AP Environmental Science course is to provide students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and to examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them.  Within the framework of the AP course, students participate in laboratory experiences, field work and research.

College Preparatory Environmental Science
Environmental Science is designed to increase your awareness of a variety of rapidly spreading environmental problems. In addition to an overview of the science of ecology, you will study problems of ecological disruptions; growth of human populations; energy and resources; nuclear power; pesticides; food supplies and air, water, solid waste and noise pollution. The text integrates the various social, economic, technical, and political issues involved with those problems.

Biology (All Levels)

Biology is the study of living things with a focus on examining the five fundamental concepts of cellular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution and physiology. The scientific process and laboratory skills are emphasized along with biology’s connections to other scientific disciplines. Students learn scientific writing skills and also examine current biological issues.  Students in this class are expected to complete detailed lab reports, current events and major projects.
