In addition to being the Perkiomen Valley Middle School West Librarian, Mrs. Quintangeli teaches 6th Grade Digital Literacy (students may see more information on Google Classroom). She also serves as the PV Middle School West Webmaster and Technology Coordinator.

Background:  After working in business for more than twenty years, Mrs. Quintangeli graduated from Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Library Science in 2003 and a Masters Degree in Education, with certification in Instructional Technology in 2007. As a new librarian, Mrs. Quintangeli opened the West Library in 2004. The 2020-21 school year marks her seventeenth year of teaching at PV. "I love working with middle school students as a librarian. No two days are alike and I learn something new each day."

6th Grade Digital Literacy

Perkiomen Valley Middle School West 6th grade students participate in Digital Literacy class every day for one vector (36 days).  Students will learn to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly in our digital world. These 21st Century skills are essential for students to reach their full potential in school and beyond. Students will have the opportunity to learn skills such as:

  • use of Google Docs and Google Classroom

  • how to guard against identity theft online

  • how to deal with cyberbullying

  • how to abide by copyright laws when creating digital work

  • safe online messaging and talking

  • how to protect one’s digital footprint

  • device addiction awareness

  • recognizing fake news

  • online research strategies for school and personal use

  • source citation for research

  • effective online resource evaluation (the difference between databases and Websites)

  • use of educational apps

  • use of multimedia tools to present knowledge
