Dear Fifth Grader,
Hello! My name is Mrs. Jones and I will be your fifth grade teacher. I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you to an exciting school year! Fifth grade has a great curriculum that will keep us busy. In anticipation of our year together, please have your school supplies ready for the first day of school. This can be found on the district website.
There will be many new things to learn and we will ease into our year slowly, so don’t be worried! Please share this letter with your parent/guardian, because I’m sure they’d be interested in the information as well.
I hope you have been reading this summer! If not, try getting back into the habit of reading every day. It would also be a good idea to visit some of the math sites you have used in fourth grade to refresh your math skills (especially the times tables!) Also, I'd like for you to purchase a copy of The Cay by Theodore Taylor before the first day of school. If you need help financially, just let me know! This book will be our first Read Aloud.
I look forward to meeting you on the first day of school! Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jones
