Autistic Support Teacher

 Dear Families,

I hope you have had a wonderful summer!  My name is Christine Hinchcliff and I will be your child’s autistic support teacher this year.  This is my ninth year as an autistic support teacher at South.  I love the variety of providing various supports for academic subjects, social skills, behavior, and more.  What I like best about my job is that no two students are ever the same and I get to learn something new every day.  Most recently I have taught 4th and 5th grade students, but I am excited to work with younger students again!

I will be working closely with many people including your child’s regular education teacher, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to help everyone work as a team.  As the school year starts, I will share more details about your child’s schedule and what the school day looks like for your child.  I also invite you to join me in communication about your child’s successes and needs.  Please feel free to contact me at any time.  I am looking forward to a great school year!

If possible, please send the following items to school for use in my classroom:

  • 4-6 glue sticks
  • 4-6 dry erase markers
  • An eraser or old sock for dry erase markers
  • 2-4 boxes of tissues
  • 1 bottle of white glue
  • 1  1-inch or ½ inch binder with pockets (for home/school communication)
  • 1 Hand wipes or hand sanitizer
  • 1  Sandwich or gallon size ziplock bags
