School Health Services

The mission of the Perkiomen Valley School District is to provide a rich academic and cultural learning environment that maximizes available resources to assure that all students grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally, attaining the skills necessary to become successful citizens.

I’d like to welcome you to the 2019/2020 school year and introduce myself as the certified school nurse at Perkiomen Valley High School. I look forward to working with you and your student regarding matters of school health.  Please complete and return the health emergency form to school as soon as possible so that we can review your child’s medical needs as well as how to contact you if your child becomes ill or injured while at school.

Reminders regarding School Health Guidelines of the Perkiomen Valley School District:

·        Students with a temperature of 100 degrees or greater will be sent home from school.  They must be fever free for 24 hours without Tylenol or Ibuprofen before returning to school.

·        Children with vomiting and/or diarrhea related to a possible illness should be kept home until symptom free for 24 hours

·        Someone should be available to pick up a sick or injured student from school within 1 hour of being contacted.

·        Children with suspected infectious diseases (i.e.  pink eye and unknown rashes) should be kept home until medical clearance is obtained from a healthcare provider.

·        Medication (including OTC) may be administered to your child with a physician’s order.   A new medication order from your physician is required for each school year.  Parents are welcome to come to school and medicate their child as necessary.

Please be mindful there are many students with life threatening food allergies.  No food products should be sent in to school with your child for mass consumption.  Latex balloons are not permitted in school buildings throughout the district.  Your child’s welfare and education are important to me.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions/ concerns.
