What is Explorations?
is the new name given to the special formerly known as Technology. So why not Technology class?  In the past, much of the curriculum in Technology class revolved around traditional programs such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.  However, much has changed.
Our lab is now Chromebook based and we are using Google Apps such as Docs, Slides, Forms, Drawing, and more. New to our curriculum is coding and engineering. Students in grades k-5 all use coding applications and languages that are grade appropriate. Additionally, students are also exposed to engineering concepts using LEGO robotics, Makey Makeys, Hot Wheels and other resources.  In Explorations, we will continue to explore all of these areas as they are now and as they change, so each day and year will take us different places. It's an exciting time in our room and I look forward to seeing where these changes take us!

Who is Mrs. Dowiak?
I received my BS at Penn State University with a certificate to teach Spanish K-12.  My first job was teaching high school Spanish for the Upper Dublin School District.  In 2002, I joined the Perkiomen Valley School District staff as an Elementary Spanish Teacher at South Elementary.   Always having been interested in the latest technology, I received my Masters degree from Chestnut Hill College in 1998 in Instructional Technology.  In 2016, I received my certificate to teach Business Education and Computing K-12 and I became South's Technology Teacher.  I am very excited with the new title and the direction that the class is heading.
