The mission of the Perkiomen Valley School District is to provide a rich academic and cultural learning environment that maximizes available resources to assure that all students grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally, attaining the skills necessary to become successful citizens. 

Intro to Graphic Design
This is a technology-based introductory art course in which you learn how to visually communicate ideas using the elements and principles of design. Adobe Illustrator is an advanced drawing and design tool that will be used throughout the course. Adobe Photoshop will be used to digitally color correct, enhance and transform images. Adobe InDesign will be used for page layout. This course will also cover the basics of digital photography, including composition, capture, and the importance of image resolution. Graphic design art history concepts will be incorporated as a means to understand how images have been used throughout history to communicate ideas. The course is based upon the understanding of the tools offered with both programs, as well as, the ongoing image analysis in search for meaning, context and composition arrangement.

Graphic Design I
Graphic Design I builds on the basic design principles and skills that were developed during Intro to Graphic Design. This course will focus on the development of applied publication designs with industry standard software such as, but not limited to the use of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Students will continue to nurture their strengths in design by presenting formal elements of typography, color and idea generation in the context of design. Graphic Design I will also further enhance the students written processes, the development of professional attitudes and new approaches to problem solving.

Digital Photography
Digital Photography which explores camera functions, technique, introduction to master and contemporary photographers, history of photography, while also utilizing industry standard software such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom to professionally edit and reproduce digital photos.

PVHS Yearbook Advisor
Yearbook is highly recommended for students interested in being part of course like no other at PV! There are two times when everyone wants to share a special moment; right after it happens and many years later. This course offers students with prior experience in Graphic Design, Photography, Journalism, Advertising and Social Media to fill the space between real time and timeless. Students will gain very close to a real-world experience producing the yearbook with industry standard software and 21t Century Skills.
