PV Woods

PVSD is the FIRST K-12 Public School in Pennsylvania with an accredited arboretum AND is also the ONLY K-12 School in the World with two accredited arboretums (PV Woods)! 

PV Woods comprises two locations situated on the grounds of Perkiomen Valley School District; Lenape Arboretum (Main Campus – Collegeville) and Muhlenberg Woods (West Campus – Zieglerville). Together, these sites cover 76 acres; Lenape Arboretum is 30 acres and Muhlenberg Woods is 46 acres.

Lenape Arboretum and Muhlenberg Woods seeks to inspire students to care for the earth and be leaders in environmental action, social equity, and inclusion.

Mission Statement
As an irreplaceable watershed and forest, Lenape Arboretum and Muhlenberg Woods, provides a place for wonder, exploration, relaxation, learning and joy that promotes environmental stewardship and conservation by enabling ALL students to explore the roots of our community.

CONGRATULATIONS! PVSD received the 2023 PA Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence in recognition of the PV WOODS- Lenape Arboretum and Muhlenberg Woods

The Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence are awarded each year by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. These awards highlight the best in environmental innovation and expertise throughout the Commonwealth. Each year the Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence provide statewide recognition to businesses and organizations involved in a cross-section of environmental initiatives from cleaning up watersheds, saving energy, eliminating pollution, reducing waste and more. PVSD was the only school district recognized as part of the 2023 awards! Other recipients included several outstanding non-profits, businesses, and government agencies.

The awards dinner in Harrisburg included Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn, PA DCNR (Dept. Conservation & Natural Resources), President Davitt Woodwell, PEC (Pennsylvania Environmental Council) and Acting Secretary Richard Negrin, PA DEP (Dept. of Environmental Protection). Jeremy Johnson, Delaware Tribe of Indians (Oklahoma) was part of the PVSD delegation.
