ABOUT COLLABORATIONS

Collaborations are:

  • Participatory in nature, whereas all members are mutually accountable for contributing to the collaboration.
  • A shared responsibility by all team members for problem-solving and making decisions relevant to their proposed goal.
  • An opportunity for educators to collaborate and learn from colleagues.
  • Organized by a representative of the group who will serve as the contact person. (All others will be participants).
  • Designed to have an outcome or accomplishment that can be shared with the Curriculum & Instruction team.

Collaborations are NOT…

  • Meetings (ex: PBIS/SWIS  Committees, SAP discussions, etc.).  Staff can consider using their professional day hours if meeting outside of normal school hours.
  • To be completed in isolation — collaborations should include representative stakeholders from applicable areas relevant to your goal.
    • If you are a teacher who is solely responsible for your course (and you have no one with whom to collaborate), consider using professional day hours when collaborating with out-of-district colleagues.

Collaboration Contact Person Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with colleagues to determine a goal, participants, and date of the collaboration.
  • Complete the “Collaboration Proposal” form in My Learning Plan.
  • Check and respond to any questions or suggestions posted in My Learning Plan regarding your submitted proposal.
  • Take attendance at the collaboration and email a list of attendees to Karen Zucker, kzucker@pvsd.org, so that FLEX credit can be awarded to all attendees.
  • Participant Responsibilities:
    1. Enroll in your Collaborations via My Learning Plan.
    2. Collaborate with your colleagues on your scheduled date, achieving the goals you set in your proposal.
    3. Before the end of your scheduled Collaboration, submit your reflection and verify attendance.
    4. Each participant must submit an individual reflection via your My Learning Plan activity. It is important the reflections be completed the day of the collaboration to ensure proper record keeping. You will NOT receive FLEX credit if this reflection is not completed.
    5. The contact person for your Collaboration should maintain any evidence and products from your Collaboration, as well as share the agenda/notes with your assigned Curriculum Supervisor to ensure communication is maintained.
